Rare fisher leaving scent in a Sierra National Forest after the Creek Fire
“Here I am; where are You?” Scent-marking is one way rare and elusive fishers (Pekania pennanti) like this male send announcements – a bit like a territorial internet.
This was winter 2024, in a post-fire forest north of Shaver Lake, after the Creek Fire. Yet again, easy to see how much animals use fallen logs. Wish I had left a better remote camera out there!
